SPRINT SERIES SEASON OPENER CANCELED

Due to circumstances
beyond club officials' control, the California
Lightning Sprints presented by Motor City GMC
season-opening race slated for March 21st at the
Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern
Raceway has been canceled. The Kubota High Limit
Sprint Car Series portion of the night will go
on as scheduled. The CLS will now open the
season on the same Kern County clay oval on
April 12th....(more).

SIX CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT RACES
RELOCATED TO THE BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY AT KEVIN
HARVICK’S KERN RACEWAY (Torrance, CA,

The California Lightning Sprints presented by
Motor City GMC Series has made an alteration to
its 2025 racing schedule. Due to the closing of
the Bakersfield Speedway, the 31-year-old club
has been forced to move six races to, well, the
Bakersfield Speedway. That is the Bakersfield
Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway. That
jewel of a dirt track is located across town, in
the shadow of the gorgeous half-mile paved oval
adjacent to California’s Interstate 5....(more).

Bakersfield Speedway
in Oildale has a rich history and holds
countless memories for racers worldwide. It has
long been the premier track for showcasing our
cars and delivering some of the best shows.
Scott and his team have been incredible
supporters of CLS, and we are excited to see
them continue their legacy at Kevin Harvick's
Kern Raceway. Keeping "Bakersfield Speedway" in
the title signifies that the dedicated staff
from both venues will unite to make the 2025
season the best yet. We eagerly anticipate the
announced improvements to both the facility and
the racing surface, combining the best of both
worlds. All 2025 CLS dates will be transferred
to "Bakersfield Raceway at Kevin Harvick's Kern
Raceway." Our first event of 2025 will kick off
with a bang as we host the CLS/BCRA Civil War
Event in conjunction with the High Limit Sprint
Car series on Friday, March 21st.

Jon Robertson is pleased to release the schedule
for the historic 30th season of racing for the
Southern California-based club. In addition,
Robertson has announced that the series will be
known as “The California Lightning Sprints
presented by Motor City GMC.” Also, American
Racer is joining the CLS as an associate sponsor

GASPER WINS WESTERN STATES LIGHTNING SPRINT
TITLE IN BAILEY SCHWEITZER TRIBUTE CAR
(Torrance, CA, November 29, 2024)
Two-time California Lightning Sprint
Car Series champion David Gasper returned to his
open-wheel roots and captured the Western States
Lightning Sprint Car Championship last Wednesday
night at the Bakersfield Speedway. Added
significance to the triumph was the fact that he
was driving a tribute car for Bailey Schweitzer.
Bailey, the daughter of Bakersfield promoter
Scott Schweitzer and his wife Crissy, lost her
life in the October 2017 Route 91 Harvest Music
Festival tragedy in Las Vegas. While Gasper was
winning the main event, fourth-place finisher
Bobby Michnowicz sewed up his second CLS
championship in a row and the seventh of his
