California Lightning Sprint Cars Return to Ventura
Saturday Torrance, CA –
June 17, 2025 — The exciting California
Lightning Sprint Car Series presented by Motor
City Buick/GMC returns to the iconic Ventura
Raceway this Saturday, June 21st, for Round #5 of
its 2025 campaign. This will be the second visit
of the season to the track affectionately known as
“The Best Little Dirt Track in America,” and fans
can expect another thrilling night of
wheel-to-wheel action.

Point leader Eric Greco leads the CLS into Ventura
on Saturday
The 31st season of CLS
competition has already showcased its competitive
depth, with five different winners emerging from
the first four races. Palmdale’s Eric Greco, a
student at Glendale College, currently leads the
Motor City Buick/GMC Championship standings. Greco
kicked off the season with a win at Bakersfield on
April 12th and has remained atop the points since.
Seven-time series champion Bobby Michnowicz of
Oak Hills is second in the standings, trailing
Greco by 54 points. Rising star Zate Legend of
Riverside holds down third, followed by Jeff Dyer
of Yucca Valley and Riverside’s Drake Cardey,
rounding out the top five.
Two weeks ago in
Bakersfield, Dyer, a longtime title contender and
full-time California Highway Patrol Officer,
claimed his first win of the year. He had to hold
off hard charges from Braydin Collie of El Cajon
midway through the race and from Legend in the
final laps to seal the victory.
The first
Ventura stop of the season on May 3rd saw Aiden
Lange of Lakewood lead all 25 laps to score an
impressive win over Cardey and Michnowicz.
Besides Greco, Lange and Dyer, the only other
driver with a 2025 CLS win to his credit is
two-time series champion David Gasper of Goleta.
The affable 20-year-old steered Mike Schweitzer’s
#41 to the win in the opening round of the Civil
War Series that matches the CLS vs the Bay Cities
Racing Association at the Merced Speedway on May
17th.
Consistency has been hard to come by
in the unpredictable early season. Only four
drivers—Greco, Michnowicz, Legend, and Collie—have
started all four main events. Of those, Greco has
the highest finishing average at 3.5, followed by
Michnowicz (5.5), Legend (6.5), and Collie (8.75).
Saturday’s racing card is a packed one, also
featuring the VRA Sprint Cars, VRA Senior Sprints,
VRA Dwarf Cars, NMRA TQ Midgets, and the VRA
Junior divisions. Spectator gates open at 3:00
p.m., with the first green flag waving at 5:30
p.m.
General admission tickets are priced
at $18.00, with the same rate applying to seniors
(60+), active military (with ID), and students
(with ID). Children 12 and under are admitted free
with a paid adult.
