The California Lightning Sprints (CLS) are a Southern California based 1200cc Mini-Sprint club. The group competes in both winged and non-winged events in California. Reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, the cars of the CLS may be small in size, but they are big on excitement!!!

  CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS BEGIN CIVIL WAR VS BCRA SATURDAY AT BAKERSFIELD!
(Torrance, CA, June 12, 2018) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will head to the Bakersfield Speedway for round #1 of the “Civil War Series” vs the Bay Cities Racing Association this Saturday night, June 16. In addition to the Lightning Sprints, the USAC Western Midgets, Modifieds, American Stocks, Mini Dwarfs and Mini Mods will also be in action. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 P.M. with racing at 6:00........more
   
  POINT LEADER JARRETT KRAMER WINS CLS SALUTE TO INDY AT PERRIS!
(Torrance, CA, May 31, 2018) 2010 California Lightning Sprint Car Series champion and 2018 season point leader Jarrett Kramer scored his first win of the year when he bested the field in the “70th Anniversary Salute to Indy” at Perris Auto Speedway last Saturday night.   CODY NIGH WINS SQUIRE MEMORIAL AT BARONA - PERRIS THIS SATURDAY!
(Torrance, CA, May 22, 2018) Third-year California Lightning Sprint Car Series driver Cody Nigh became a first-time winner when he captured the Jim Squire Memorial last Saturday night at the Barona Speedway. It was the first time the CLS visited its former home track in more than 10-years. (Torrance, CA, May 10, 2018) Fifteen-year-old Aiden Lange erased any doubt about who is the hottest lightning sprint driver on the Pacific Coast when he led all 25-laps to win his second straight USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car main event last Saturday night at the Ventura Raceway. Teenage star Aiden Lange of Lakewood, California won his first ever USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car main event when he outdistanced five-time series champion Bobby Michnowicz at the Bakersfield Speedway last Saturday night. For Lange, it was his second win in three starts in 2018 as he also captured the BCRA season opener at the Placerville Speedway earlier in the month.....more

  MICHNOWICZ KICKS OFF LIGHTNING SEASON WITH A WIN AT VENTURA – BAKERSFIELD THIS WEEK!
(Torrance, CA, April 17, 2018) The weather finally cooperated and the California Lightning Sprint Car Series kicked off its historic 25th anniversary season in style with a big field of cars at the Ventura Raceway last Saturday night. Big field or not, the results were much the same as they have been the past few years with five-time series champion Bobby Michnowicz of Lomita prevailing over the field to win the season opener.
