Lightning Sprint Car Series Ventura Race Canceled
Due to Power Loss
Torrance, CA — October
16, 2026 — This Saturday’s California
Lightning Sprint Car Series race presented by
Motor City Buick/GMC at the Ventura Raceway has
been canceled due to a power failure on the
fairgrounds caused by today’s high winds. As of
press time, information on a possible makeup date
was unavailable.
“Well, this sure
blows...... With the high winds taking over the
county, our fairgrounds is without power, possibly
until late afternoon tomorrow,” the track said in
a statement issued on Friday. “We are making the
difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's races. Not
a light decision, but better to save those that
are planning to drive from out of town only to be
turned away. We are looking into rescheduling
though, so don't give up hope. Please help spread
the word to those that need it- thank you!”
Fans will not have long to wait for their next
dose of CLS action, as the series will be at
Ventura Raceway on Saturday, October 24.
Off the track, teams and fans can mark their
calendars for an evening celebrating the 2026
season. Featuring great food, good company, and
plenty of racing conversation, the annual CLS
awards banquet is set for:
